Cabstone DockingStreamer tooth – Audio Receiver : Arcam rCube A little temperamental in pairing but no great hassles at all

We have the recently discontinued arcam rcube which works really well with the matched arcam rwand+ and our ipod 160gb classics for kleer wireless audio streaming at cd track quality. However the rcube doesn’t have bluetooth or standard g/n wifi connectivity, but it does have the old style 30pin apple dock connector that is on the ipod classic. Usefully this rcube dock is powered so it can recharge the ipod classic, and more importantly provide power for this cabstone bluetooth adapter (and any similar powered 30-pin ipod dock should work just as well). I plugged the cabstone into the rcube dock, switched on the rcube (in battery or mains mode), and set the rcube to dock input. The cabstone receiver’s blue led came on, i pressed the cabstone’s pairing button and setup either our tesco hudl/hudl 2/nexus 7/ipad tablets or ipod touches or sony xperia smartphones for bluetooth with the rcube, and they paired quickly with audio streaming starting up straight away. This cabstone unit is bluetooth 3. 0 compatible and so supports high speed (hs) and enhanced data rate (edr) specifications for improved blue-tooth transfer rates and better audio quality. And audio quality via bluetooth is very good, it certainly doesn’t compromise the superb rcube – and although sound quality is perhaps even better via the rcube’s bespoke arcam kleer wireless or direct digital 30-pin docking options, neither of these will work with our tablets or any current music player now that the ipod classic has been discontinued. Anyway the bluetooth sound quality is truly in another league compared to the tablets inbuilt speakers. The cabstone & rcube speaker is great for adding soundtrack oomph to movies viewed on the tablet and suchlike.

Works with arcam rcubea little temperamental in pairing but no great hassles at all. Basic but practical solution to an otherwise redundant docking station. Will drain battery so keep powered on mains or a charge prior to use would be useful.

Worked fine on my arcam rcube. Most dont so was very pleased.
