    1. Nice small unit to plug into other audio devices. (this unit has no speakers). I bought this to plug into a dab radio so i could get stations not available on digital radio. Easy enough to use but but no luck with the “media u” webpage. You can find stations with particular types of music and save them to a list so you can easily locate them again, will store about 200. You can also search for stations by country. I bought this for a person who is not very savvy with technology and they are very happy with it. They have 10 favourite stations programmed in and can easily change them with the remote control.

So this little inexpensive device connected to the input on my music system gives me access to internet radio from across the world. My preference is easy listening and i have already found several stations that cater to my taste in music and the sound is fantastic, cd quality almost. I don’t need to use my music collection all the music i love is played. A great bonus with this system is the pc app used for scanning the internet stations and storing. The selections are stored on the app and transferred to the gadget when connected to internet. It also means you can play the stations on your pc if you wish. The fact that it has no built in speaker is not a negative for me as if you want quality sound you need quality speakers and you would not get that in a gadget like this for the price.     Received this in couple of days, opened the box and a simple quick start guide was inside along with a more comprehensive instructions. The quick start guide was more than enough, easy to connect to the hifi, just easy to connect to the wifi and within few minutes we had radio from all over the world. Can’t really recommend this product highly enough.

If you take the trouble to read the instructions (most men don’t) it offers great versatility and tremendous scope to broaden your music horizons by listening to world wide music. I believe it is british made. My only suggestions for small improvements as i am elderly. The print could be larger in the insructions also the screen could be a little larger to enable viewing from across the room.

This unit is very good in every way, apart from one point which in my mind is a little disappointing, that is the audio output is really rather low, so when the unit connected to a hi-fi system the volume has to be turned up quite high. Having said that the unit is very easy to set up, it performs very well with a very flexible menu & configuration, the remote is absolutely essential & also works well. Overall i am please with the unit, but it could be improved as i say with more audio output?. That’s why i’ve given it 4 out of 5 stars.

    Now i have it set-up, it works well. I would recommend it but i docked a star because it was a bit fiddly to set-up (and also because i was a tad disappointed it doesn’t support 5ghz wifi). Re the set-up i tried unsuccessfully to find the station i was interested in (softrockradio. Net) which was doubly frustrating as keying in urls (with / without http?. ) using a remote and tiny screen is slow and fiddly. I was on the verge of returning it when i read in the manual that you can configure the radio via an online portal called mediau. Mediau had no problem finding softrockradio and i was able to set this as a favourite which gets sync’d to the ocean digital radio. A quick setting toggle on the radio and, hey presto, the radio was playing softrockradioi work in it yet i found the mediau user interface is a bit clunky and confusing but it got the job done. That was until i switched on the radio a couple of days later to find it playing a decidedly non soft rock german speaking station. To be fair, an email to mediau suport soon had the problem fixed. I’ve had the unit for a couple of weeks and have switched over to it from my dab radio to play soft rock. Enjoying the radio but not the initial set-up.

    Does exactly what it is supposed to. No instruction manual in the box, but i need not have worried because as soon as you turn it on it comes up with clear instructions. Give it the wi-fi password and off it goes. I have mine plugged in to my bose wave unit because my internet is a lot better than fm or dab reception where i am. Note it does not have 2 x aaa batteries for the remote control, which would be irritating if you didn’t have any spare lying around when you unpack the unit.

Also good not to waste money on unwanted built in speaker when i wanted to connect through my hifi. Worth upgrading the connector cable that is supplied but this will only cost a few quid. At the money this is a real bargain.
