Panasonic ALL8 Wireless Speaker System : Looks and sounds ok but not liking the interface

The application renders it useless you may possibly as nicely purchase a grey brick. It only gives spotify and youll want spotify premium to stream new music. Indeed, but not by way of the app and i locate it disingenuous of panasonic to are unsuccessful to specify that thy indicate entry to itunes via a pc. When compared to the industry leader, its a very poor next and if it were not for the audio excellent, i might have rated it one star. Unless you have spotify premium, you should not hassle. As for the promises about app updates, theyve in no way materialised in the ten months given that i acquired this and i sincerely question they at any time will.

Possessing browse the tales about problems taking part in tunes i was apprehensive about no matter whether this would get the job done for me. I adopted the very simple recommendations and managed to engage in a person song but then when i tried out a next it informed me that wasn’t possible so i had to fiddle with the interface to participate in far more. I only have the primary spotify so i have not tried that out but the sound from the speakers is superior as opposed to my more essential methods. It is a uncomplicated white design with silver metallic trim and although it won’t get big design and style awards it appears to be very good on the mild wood unit in my lounge. I am still discovering what it will do but so much i have been upset in the flexibility and ease of use. I hear to audio publications from audible and questioned if they would participate in [i can perform them via my effortless to use bluetooth friendly speaker but i can’t work it out if that is possible at the moment. Will update when i have tried it with other devices. ]

Panasonic ALL8 Wireless Speaker System (White)

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • The Panasonic Music Streaming App makes it easy to send music wirelessly from your portable device to your speakers. This free app for Android and IOS devices simply asks you to choose your music source, choose your speaker and away you go.
  • The 5 speaker system within the ALL 8, uses a Subwoofer, 2 x bass drivers and 2 x tweeters. This means that the audio signal is divided into acoustic ranges extending from bass to treble so providing the richest, purest possible sound from a spaeker of its size.
  • The ALL 8 allows you to access music subscription services( including Spotify), your iTunes library or Internet radio stations via the system App, when connected to a wifi router. This means the user has access to millions of muscic tracks 24 hours a day.
  • The ALL 8 speaker systems lets listeners easily configure music play over multiple rooms from multiple digital music sources, all over an existing Wi-Fi network. This is controlled wirelessly via a smartphone or tablet so that different music can be enjoyed in any room of the houseor the same song can be simultaneously played over multiple speakers.

the setup system is challenging – i have manufactured a video to wander you via the uninteresting set up. [sorry – it is really like watching paint dry. But it is really there if you want a thorough stroll by means of of what the setup involves.i’ve made a bunch of annotated photographs (please click each thumbnail). The most important thing is the quality of the music; it’s very pleasing. Remember to go into spotify options and select “max” quality (320kb/s). If your only need is to playback spotify premium, this speaker should be a strong contender. Tl;drcons:- you can’t playback audio from other services like iplayer, youtube. – even itunes playback is crippled – drm music won’t play at all. – no bluetooth (and lacking wi-fi). Bottom line: it’s a bit tricky to set up, and it’s limiting – you can basically only use spotify. The sound is so i’m impressive that i’m giving it 5-stars in spite of these deficiencies. ]

Out the box – the contents had been nice and straightforward, the device alone, a power cable, some small mounting brackets and a several bits of paper. The quick begin tutorial was pleasant and easy. The method was a bit of a ache – it wouldn’t recognise my router aspects but right after a number of restarts i was absent. I’m a spotify quality subscriber so connecting with spotify was super effortless. I was extremely impressed with the audio excellent- genuinely abundant and fills the home. I’ve been utilizing a moveable bose wireless speaker that i like but this surpasses the top quality. Have attempted out a couple of genres – from ryan adams to andy c and all appears sweet. The device isn’t really the most beautiful factor and it is very major, but it is not ugly – won’t stand out also a lot. Acquiring tried using spotify i tried using to perform from other audio sources i use. Beyondpod for podcasts, bbc iplayer radio and so forth.

I’ve examine a couple of people’s evaluations just before acquiring this so was prepared for the worst. However, the established up method is quite very simple (although it really is a bit preposterous that they are transported with out of day firmware) and at the time you’ve downloaded the application to your device, you are prepared to go. The draw back will not relate to the good quality of the speaker itself. It really is how your unit picks up the speaker and then plays songs. It can be a bit temperamental and tell you that no speaker is chosen. I have also bought an all3 upstairs and the grouping of the two speakers doesn’t often do the job properly. All in all nevertheless, a neat system that has introduced joyful audio all above the dwelling.

Panasonic ALL8 Wireless Speaker System (White) : Possibly a great piece of hardware. I bought it from amazon warehouse. Someone had obviously bricked it & returned it. Then, unfortunately,i was next in line for it. If you do buy one of these from the amazon warehouse, and the network light flashes red & blue, constantly, the item needs a repair. Don’t waste your time trying to get it up & running. So,let’s be careful out there. Although, cautious advice notwithstanding,i will probably try & purchase again once my refund materialises. Decided to buy another one, this time brand new from amazon for £140. Ok,the software isn’t there yet, but, the speaker is like unbelievable. There should be a cage around it,it’s like a wild animal.

This is at it is main a big speaker and the audio excellent is excellent. , crisp, distinct and doesn’t distort at higher volume. On the draw back it truly is a small chunky which may well cause you to deficiency alternatives for storing it. More importantly although the all8 is a genuine pain to established up and for explanations that i only simply cannot fathom it doesn’t support direct bluetooth connections, alternatively relying on a panasonic application for streaming and seemingly this is to thrust you towards acquiring spotify quality. It truly is disappointing to say the minimum and the conclusion result will be a whole lot of dust accumulating even though my trusty inventive bluetooth speaker gets all the do the job.

Outstanding audio qualityit is not until you listen to the audio by means of this speaker that you enjoy how lacking the audio is from a lot of of the lesser speakers out there. This is a wonderful solution that will stream tunes from your mobile phone utilizing the residence wifi community. The application for the telephone will work properly. The songs that will come out of the speaker is entire and with a nice quantity of bass. It is also possible to plug a radio output or equivalent immediate into the aux input, again with a lovely improvement of sound. This is a awesome fantastic seeking and easy to use solution.

When i eventually figured out how to get this system performing i have been very delighted with itit to begin with began doing the job very first time but then for some unfamiliar purpose just stopped functioning – i could not see the system on my community. It took in excess of an hour and quite a few manufacturing facility resets to get it working once again – and i nevertheless am not certain what i did to make it function againhowever the sound high-quality is fantastic, very good bass and good and apparent. Controlling the new music from the application is fairly effortless – not overly intuitive but clear-cut ample. It is somewhat massive in measurement and a little bit unsightly but i can stay with that. I search ahead to working with this a lot more – just hoping it continues to operate correctly.

This speaker came by way of the article and the 1st detail i was amazed by was the body weight. As this speaker is manufactured to be set up in a place and left there this is not an difficulty, just a surprise. I took it out, examine the paperwork, plugged it in, and proceeded to set it up on my network. Which took me an hour and a 50 percent. Once set up it gave me terrific seem from my cellular as a result of the panasonic app. I would have preferred to use google or amazon and stream from there but this appears to not be possible. All in all a excellent speaker with constrained useability. If i was to put these in my flat as a networked audio system, it would charge a lot based mostly on latest value of £295. Overpriced for what they are to be utilized for.

This speaker is so straightforward to set up, as extended as you have a modern day clever telephone. The sound is good, this is particularly genuine at superior volumes. I have experimented with a lot of styles of audio from modern pop, rock to jazz and classical. Spotify high quality is the perfect husband or wife to these and in my view they look greater than the lg, samsung and even the sonos choices. I now have two all8’s and two all3’s setup all over the home and not too long ago purchased a new vdsl modem/router to switch my talktalk/bt set up and it was just as uncomplicated to reconfigure all the speakers to perform on my new 5ghz wireless network.

This panasonic wireless speaker system is a significant-high quality merchandise manufactured from high-conclude elements that provides fantastic audio quality. Unfortunately, the method of procedure through a smartphone app would make it a full nightmare to operatewhile i am not a technological whizz by any stretch of the creativeness, i would say that i am assured with applying and having to grips with new technologies, such as apps. That explained, i felt it took an excessively prolonged time to get the device established up and doing work properly, mainly due to the app. The app just isn’t extremely steady and is really temperamental.I have set up it on two separate devices and encountered the very same challenges on both equally. It ought to also be famous that the app does not assist the most the latest iphones, which could be clearly show-stopping for some usersa little additional operate on the application would transform this from an regular and frustrating product or service into a excellent one particular. At the instant, the temptation to merely plug the device in and work it directly from the pc is way too terrific (even however this defeats the object of it staying wireless).

These panasonic speakers are top of the assortment in aesthetic characteristics, attributes, and seem high-quality. Unfortunately the supporting app for the speakers is a horrendous polar opposite – unsightly and terribly designed. The dilemma below is that the speakers themselves have only minimal buttons, and so you are instead reliant on the application for utilizing characteristics. The speakers are pretty major and hefty as they dwelling five particular person speakers, so if you plan on moving them all around incredibly normally then a additional compact model may be much more realistic. The wireless features is the massive offering place listed here and thankfully this system is terrific and matches in with the modern-day ‘everything connected’ philosophy. If you have heaps of music on a cell phone or tablet then you can bypass their tinny small speakers and connect wirelessly to the panasonic all eight, and it truly is good not to have to mess close to with wires, etc. First set up can be a bit of a head scratcher nevertheless, so bear that in intellect if you aren’t also proficient with setting up gizmos normally. The other criticism (other than the application) is the selling price issue. For me this looks a tiny steep, which also helps make the application concern substantially additional disappointing when you might be shelling out a quality. But if you totally ought to have a best system with wireless abilities then the panasonic all 8 is effectively truly worth a glance.

I constantly read through the evaluations ahead of getting, so i thought i would create just one to give a tiny back. I picked up the all8 at down below £100. At this price it was remarkable. Connecting it to my wifi and steaming by means of spotify was tremendous simple. The treble can be a bit harsh, but my primary system is a bowers and wilkins that has cables that price far more than this speaker. Excellent for listening to spotify and good benefit.

So, the query you should really be inquiring on your own is – ought to i buy this or the sonos?. Just to explain you are having just one unit below. It can be a large unit brain but if you had been seeking the multiform knowledge then you will need to have to get further more models. If you are applying spotify then this is a single heck of a amazing gadget as you can just blast out your playlist from your notebook or smartphone. The excellent of the sound is great – it may not be delicate but it does pack a punch no matter whether classical audio, pop or rock – it is astonishingly excellent. It is really a shame that the computer software wanted to set up with it is so awful – that is exactly where the missing star from the assessment is – the placing up is a tiny bit of hit and hope and then you do have to pray that i under no circumstances have to reinstall it. As a present you would enjoy to obtain it, it is a good quality merchandise. It is a item worthy of persevering with but in this working day and age you would hope that panasonic would have worked out that the putting in procedure desired increasing.

You can really run the all8 or the all3 immediate from your iphone, but it is a significant faff to set up, and you have to have two computer systems (or identical gadgets). First manufacturing facility reset the all3/all8 (maintain energy right up until it blinks amber then press the wps button). Even though that is resetting switch on your iphone’s own hotspot and link a computer system to it (more than wifi, not usb), so that the hotspot connection stays open. Change the all3/all8 again on and hold out until eventually the alternating purple/blue flashing light-weight flashes just blue. That signifies it has found networks. Now, employing pc selection 2, research for wifi networks. One particular will be called all anything, link to it and it will give you the solution to hook up the all3/all8 to your hotspot. At the time you’ve connected you can swap off the two personal computers.

This panasonic all8 speaker has a extremely pleasant construct high quality, thoughts, you would anticipate no significantly less for the rate. It appears to be and feels pretty awesome, on the lookout attractive and emotion stable. Out of the box, wi-fi set up was incredibly uncomplicated, no troubles in anyway connecting and becoming in a position to use my phone (despite the fact that i did find the application rather hard perform) and also connecting to my nas was again no problem so major marks for connectivity. But of class the most crucial thing for a speaker is how it seems, and thankfully in this regard the all8 warrants praise and while i would in no way say it’d at any time change a top rated-notch speaker system, it appears actually good and i am certain it’d effortlessly satisfy most people today who usually are not genuine audiophiles. All that stated, the price tag position is rather large and the app certainly desires some do the job but i would picture these are points that will get much better in time.

I have been a little wary of placing this speaker up as other reviewers mentioned it was pretty complicated, but i did not obtain it so at all. There’s a fast established up tutorial in the box, with five levels, these are all properly basic to adhere to, one) plug in, two) change on the power and wait around until the community indicator blinks blue, three) go into the wireless settings on your mobile phone, join to allplay, identify the machine, enter your wifi password, four) down load the panasonic music streaming application to your mobile phone and 5) which is it, now stream the audio. My daughter has also been capable to stream her tunes from her ipad with out possessing to put in the app on that as effectively, via spotify. The sound top quality is superb, and there’s not a lot a lot more i can say, other than that, speedy simple set up and remarkable sound.

The fantastic:seem high-quality for the dimension of box is really fantastic. All appears to be very well built and sturdy. Streams flac files from my nas drive seamlessly. Web radio streams with no challenges. Panasonic app functions fine with both ios and android. Back links and syncs with my all2. If you you should not like the panasonic application you can try some others – becoming part of the qualcomm allplay system the apps by the other brands also do the job with this (i was applying the musaic application but the most current panasonic app update have sorted out the niggles i had so i use that now). In which it could be enhanced:when i have the gamers connected collectively there is a pause a couple seconds into the track on the 2nd participant, it will not go out of sync or something, just appears to buffer for a bit and then is fine for the rest of the track, switching the players about so that a various one is the principal the pause moves to the other. I’m certain there will be a resolution to this someplace and will put up when i find out how to resolve it. I would like to see the world wide web radio additional built-in into the panasonic app – will work great at the instant and utilizing the pre-sets on the all2 is fine but switching involving apps to decide on non-pre-set stations is a little bit messy.

Listening to songs on electronic equipment is far too often an unsatisfying encounter. If you are like me you either adhere some headphones into your laptop computer or plug in a collection of wires to some bizarre wanting and ultimately not really fantastic speaker system (you know the style, with a bizarre bass speaker and two minimal tweeters). Worse nevertheless i frequently find myself listening to audio just through a laptops built in speakers (just for the reason that i really don’t want the problem of all the leads etcetera). Nicely, that is wherever this speaker system will come in useful. You can carry it around your house. It has a authentic punch to it, but also a excellent depth of seem.

After a good deal of faffing around and some excellent guidance from the amazon group, i lastly go this speaker to join so that it wasn’t working with the wi-fi relationship on the tablet. Thank you to all those who served. It offers a excellent place filling audio, but there is no equalizer so every single genre is offered the very same default arrangement. To engage in audio an application has to be downloaded on to the tablet or telephone. Once more straight ahead and the app itself is quite intuitive to use. Spotify and other radio can be streamed by means of the application. Sad to say there is certainly no blue tooth. It would have been nice to enjoy netflix or primary as a result of the speaker. Probably which is one thing that can be added in time. So in general, delighted with the audio and relieve of use as soon as established up.

Excellent sound quality, easy to set up with android tablet, and a great thing for anyone using digital music resources. The panasonic app is a bit clunky and not especially versatile. Spotify needs a premium subscription to work with this, but other free radio resources such as aupeo and allradio are compatible.

I have been an audiophile for over 20 years. Like many others, of course, since i found a taste for high quality music reproduction, i’ve had children, and delicate, expensive audio equipment that takes up lots of space is not very compatible with a young family. And i rarely get the time to really enjoy my music like i used to either. Furthermore, technology has moved on a lot since the first cd players, and i’m not absolutely sure my trusty old turntable is superior to my new cd player. It was certainly a warmer sound and a larger soundstage than my old cd player. But life has moved on, as it always does. And so, my requirements have changed too. I’ve been on the lookout for a wireless speaker that won’t disappoint me with its sound quality, but also be versatile enough to allow me to add to it if i go down the multi-room route, and yet easy enough to use that my wife can enjoy her music too while i’m not at home. So, when i was offered the chance to try out the all8 speaker through the vine programme, i jumped at the chance. The all8 has been billed in some quarters as the first credible contender for the sonos crown in terms of sound quality at this price.

      1. This rather large and imposing looking piece of technology is the “panasonic all8 wireless speaker system”. It’s a wireless multiroom speaker with an output of 80w (via its five speakers) and claims that it is “capable of delivering high quality audio. ” the panasonic’s features include free standing or wall mountable design, no complex or resource hungry software, panasonic’s new lincsd-amplification to minimize audio distortions, easily configurable music playback from all music sources and the ability to control over your smartphone or tablet. Installation through your home network can seem a bit daunting and while it was time consuming, it did work first time being reasonably easy to set-up. In terms of sound quality it copes with every audio track thrown at it, delivering clear and loud music without any difficulty (i’m told this is down to the panasonic’s bamboo cones inside the unit). A few tracks do sound a bit heavier than they should when playing back but this could be down to the tracks themselves. Despite all the mention of spotify on the packaging and the product information, you do require the premium service for this speaker as the free version does not appear to work at all at this time. Personally if you have a large music collection it shouldn’t matter too much, if you don’t there are other options. Panasonic’s allplay app isn’t the best on the market and still has some distance to go. Thankfully you can use other ops and there are a number of good free alternatives on the android market.

Bitterly disappointed with this product. When it works it is fine, but most times i go to use them i have to spend time troubleshooting to get them to play. Added to that they refuse to play certain files, without any rhyme or reason – to the extent that some files will play at some times and not at others.

Listening to music on digital devices is too often an unsatisfying experience. If you’re like me you either stick some headphones into your laptop or plug in a series of wires to some weird looking and ultimately not very good speaker system (you know the type, with a strange bass speaker and two little tweeters). Worse still i often find myself listening to music just through a laptops built in speakers (just because i don’t want the hassle of all the leads etc). Well, that’s where this speaker system comes in handy. You can carry it around your home. It has a real punch to it, but also a great depth of sound.

Set up required a bit of doing, including a firmware update and a factory reset but relatively straightforward if you follow all the instructions carefully including the extra note tucked in the box. It looks good and is quite big and solid – 22cm high by 37cm wide so you need decent shelf space for it. Also while wireless it does need a power source so you need it near a plug. The sides are sloped so you cannot position it any way other than horizontally as shown. You need the panasonic music stream app installed on a smartphone or tablet to connect the speaker to your wifi network (i used my ipod touch. Once that is done you can connect supported services to the app to enable play through the speaker. Supported services seem to be napster, spotify, aupeo. Personal radio and allplay radio. Unfortunately i use google play and that doesn’t seem to be supported. I can connect music devices on my wi-fi network, so i play music via my ipod, and use the allplay radio service which is free and totally brilliant.

      1. The device itself looks really nice. I have the white one, and it looks like modern furniture rather than audio electronics: no obvious push buttons or dials, and sleek lines. It’s also surprisingly heavy (it weighs like a subwoofer if you pick it up: i. Quite dense and heavy) and a bit bigger than i expected: this is not a cheap bluetooth speaker. Its higher quality than that, requiring wifi, which allows it to stream higher quality audio. It also has a wired internet connection, or if you just want direct wired audio, a 3. Sound-wise, it’s powerful without being boy-racer style bass heavy, but doesn’t get as loud as 80w rms would suggest, and has limited sound options for the technophile (because it has no buttons, there is no way to change bass nor treble outside your streaming software). Is the sound worth the asking price?.

Working on your home wifi network, this smart looking speaker is simple to set up and sounds great. You can play music from a variety of devices (tablet, phone, ipod) although itunes has to be accessed through the panasonic app. Playing from spotify is done straight from the spotify app and so is a little simpler but i believe you have to have spotify premium (paid for). All in all a great piece of equipment if you want to stream music from a handheld device around the house.

    1. This 18inch long box acts as a wireless speaker. You download an ipad/iphone app and connect to it via wifi. It then has some setup to run through before it connects to your home wireless account. Then it downloads an update. All this takes a while but when done allows you to play music from your iphone through the speaker. It is a nice gadget and sound is very good but it is a shame it can’t do bluetooth as well because the app is not the best and i feel very reliant on it working with future tablets.

    1. I think it’s a great speaker system and i’m glad i got it for several reasons. The most important thing is that it can be connected via wlan so you can play it wirelessly. Like everybody else, the back of my pc and tv are in chaos with all the cables, including my long speaker cables, but now the speaker is a few meters away from me on the middle shelf of the bookshelf and there’s no cable between it and my pc (although you still need a power cable). The sound quality is better than i thought. It’s getting very popular to use a bluetooth speaker, which can also work wirelessly and small and convenient, but the sound quality isn’t really convincing for me. I’m really happy for this one. It’s not too long like a soudbar, and it’s bass sound is good enough, setting up was easier than i thought, and nothing to criticise.

In all honesty i didnt think i was going to like this. I have tried so many wireless speakers that there are few i rate. For many differnt reasons, sound, usability, controls. This one i liked due to its understanding that people now play back music differntly that they used to. Im not talking purists, but your general music user. They just want to play music across thier network of it based products, already in thier house. The box allows that to happen simply through a phone or tablet ( it is allegedly possible to do this via laptop but you need a certain windows version pat 7 i do beleive- i didnt try it ). Well this was simple to set up by entering teh code from my virgin wireless, and downloading the app from panasonic. Had it working in minutes, then turned it up full blast to see where it distorted which it did but only at seriously high levels which your not going near unless your deaf. I found out the radio options were excellent and the signal didnt drop out when you walked away with your tablet. However i fund out then that unless you use spotify premium then it wont work at all with spotify. . Which is fine with me as i dont use either at present. The controls on teh box are simple. On, vol up and down, wps, and aux.

    1. This is a great looking external speaker. It has that elusive / exclusive “apple” design quality about it. Its a nice solid heavy build too, all of which speak of quality. As a bit of a technophobe i had misgivings about how i would set up something which wasn’t actually bluetooth. (it dines off your home wireless network, so very different to the average speaker). In fact setup is dead easy, the unit broadcasts its ssid and you see it on your phone or ipad and make the connection. The whole thing is controlled by an app of which others have written exhaustively: the summary of which is that it’s not very special. I was interested in it as a way of getting a decent hi-fi sound off my computer, and so it was the sound quality that interested me most. Opinions of other reviewers vary, but i have to say i was disappointed on the whole. The good news is that at reasonable volumes (and in its favour it produces reasonable volumes), there is good sound separation allowing different instruments to sound distinct.

  15. This panasonic wireless speaker system is a high-quality product made from high-end materials that delivers excellent sound quality. Unfortunately, the method of operation via a smartphone app makes it a complete nightmare to operatewhile i am not a technological whizz by any stretch of the imagination, i would say that i am confident with using and getting to grips with new technology, including apps. That said, i felt it took an excessively long time to get the device set up and working properly, largely due to the app. The app isn’t very stable and is extremely temperamental.I have installed it on two separate devices and encountered the same problems on both. It should also be noted that the app does not support the most recent iphones, which may be show-stopping for some usersa little more work on the app would transform this from an average and frustrating product into a great one. At the moment, the temptation to simply plug the device in and operate it directly from the pc is too great (even though this defeats the object of it being wireless).

    1. Out the box – the contents were nice and simple, the unit itself, a power cable, some tiny mounting brackets and a few bits of paper. The quick start guide was nice and simple. The process was a bit of a pain – it wouldn’t recognise my router details but after a few restarts i was away. I’m a spotify premium subscriber so connecting with spotify was super easy. I was very impressed with the sound quality- really rich and fills the room. I’ve been using a portable bose wireless speaker that i love but this surpasses the quality. Have tried out a few genres – from ryan adams to andy c and all sounds sweet. The unit isn’t the most beautiful thing and it is quite big, but it isn’t ugly – doesn’t stand out too much. Having tried spotify i tried to play from other audio sources i use. Beyondpod for podcasts, bbc iplayer radio etc.

Out of the box it’s sexy as hell, and looks amazing on the shelving unit in my living room. It looks like (and quite rightly so) a high-quality product. Setup was pretty straightforward, a single sheet of clear instuctions and, thankfully, i didn’t experience any of the issues that other people have mentioned. We’ve just moved and took out a new contract with sky and so our router is brand new, which probably helped. Once an update had been downloaded (why do these things never just work straight out of the box?) we were ready to rock and rollthe app is not the sleekest of apps, but it’s functional. I use spotify premium and so was able to link it up and get it to play with no issues at all. I realise i’m one of the very lucky ones with this, and for this i am truly grateful. I used my android phone but it works no problem with my ipad too. The sound is excellent, really clear quality.

I have been slightly wary of setting this speaker up as other reviewers stated it was quite difficult, but i did not find it so at all. There’s a quick set up guide in the box, with 5 stages, these are all perfectly simple to follow, 1) plug in, 2) turn on the power and wait till the network indicator blinks blue, 3) go into the wireless settings on your phone, connect to allplay, name the device, enter your wifi password, 4) download the panasonic music streaming app to your phone and 5) that’s it, now stream the music. My daughter has also been able to stream her music from her ipad without having to install the app on that as well, via spotify. The sound quality is excellent, and there’s not a lot more i can say, other than that, quick easy set up and amazing sound.

    1. Ease of setup- other reviewers have struggled to set this up but for whatever reason, i didn’t have any problems with it. The instructions were clear and it worked, using an android phone and the panasonic app to connect this speaker to my wifi. Sound quality- this sounds good for the fairly small size. The sound does fill the space and it sounds balanced, even though it’s only one unit with all the speakers shoved together. No doubt if you add the extra speakers you can get this to sound great. App- as other reviewers pointed me towards the qualcomm app as being better than the panasonic app, i have tried both and not found many issues with either. However i went into richer sounds to ask what they thought of this item, and the assistant felt that panasonic hadn’t put enough thought into their app and he said the sonos was much better for that reason. But the flaws he spotted such as not being able to control each speaker (ie in different rooms) individually seem to have been fixed in the qualcomm app, although i’ve not tried those features, since i didn’t get any of the extra speakers. I have found both apps to be clunky when you try to make a playlist, and when you turn on the speaker and open up the app, it always seems to need a few tries before it will connect. Utility- i don’t think this is as useful to me as it might be to some.

As other reviewers have commented, the instructions are not the clearest, and so the set-up can be fiddly. (i had to – finally- upgrade my router as the all8 only works with wpa2 security protocols – not wep or wpa). My home set-up was with a windows 8 pc and an ipad. By using the ipad and following the warnings in other reviews to watch for the pop-up on the tablet, i actually found it quite easy to connect the speaker to my home wifi network. The app that runs the speaker is quite easy to find on the app store, and it has some usual “help” pop up screens which you can leave on or switch off once you have the hang of it. The advanced help also launches the web site and that was actually much easier to follow (if you can, have a look before you start set up). Then the fiddly bit started. I don’t keep all my music on an ipad or ipod. To check the speaker was working, i used one of the free tracks that apple had dumped on my last ios upgrade, and realised the volume setting had begun at zero.

    1. The panasonic sc-all8 network speaker is a self-contained wireless media receiver, amplifier and speaker; connected to a wireless network, a dlna/upnp controller (e. Smartphone or tablet app) can be used to deliver audio from a media server (local or remote) to the speaker. Panasonic’s free controller app can be used to link multiple panasonic devices together so that the same audio can be played in multiple locations. I’ve been using logitech (originally slimdevices) squeezeboxes for about ten years to stream audio around our house, including to an audiophile transporter attached to our hifi. I’m very happy with this setup, but all too aware that logitech have discontinued the range, and when these devices start to fail, i’ll have to find an alternative. Could panasonic devices such as the sc-all8 (and sh-all1c receiver, reviewed separately) fill the gap?. Sadly, i have to conclude that they can’t. The speaker is surprisingly large and heavy (double-check those specs), roughly the size of an old-fashioned ghetto blaster and if anything even heavier. Unlike the sh-all1c receiver, it’s at least possible to change the volume level through buttons on the speaker.

The all8 system is panasonic’s answer to the omni-present and well-regarded sonos wireless speaker system, and i’m impressed by this powerful base unit. It was a bit fiddly to get set up, and didn’t immediately connect to my phone, though the undeniable benefit of a wi-fi-based system is that it’s able to stream larger files than existing bluetooth systems. As a result, the audio from the speaker is excellent, and it goes far louder than any self-respecting hearing-lover has any right to care for. The wi-fi connectivity means you can play high-resolution audio files, too, which i believe is the only system that, at the time of writing, supports this. If you were to pair this to another speaker – or three or four – you’d have a high quality stereo system that could play just about any track you care to throw at it. It’s awesome in this regard. The hardware feels solid and built to last, with a clean minimalist look and well-hidden touch-sensitive buttons on the top. It gives you the option to play music through the 3. 5mm aux-in jack in the back, as well as connect it physically to a router, should you wish. The only real let down for me is the supporting software, enabling you, in theory, to play music from a phone.
