Roberts Radio Roberts R-Line R1 Smart Wireless Speaker System – Requires you to buy a battery pack

We obtained this established out of the box and it was just a make a difference of plugging it in. You down load an app and then make your mind up how to join to the speaker set. On an iphone you find the speaker as your wifi relationship. As soon as you have logged in you are questioned which home wifi to hook up it to. Spotify can be connected to your application as very well as your property community. We assigned the dwelling network location really hard travel to the system. This signifies that no matter what audio you have can be selected from your mobile phone application. It is genuinely uncomplicated to setup and run.

The seem and appears to be of this smart radio are really superior. I purchased this with a suitable roberts speaker and they function properly jointly employing the android app. My only problem was placing up the system and it took a several tries to get the radio and speaker to ‘talk’ to a person a further.

I mistakenly imagined this was only a radio (twit) but it is a multi-perform stereo speaker that can be utilised with your wireless radio, spotify or bluetooth. The speaker is really superior searching retro product with a fantastic quality leather-based carrying strap. There are 5 buttons on the major – on/off volume reset quickly forward/again and manner/pair. Three led lights for standby network and manner. The manner gentle color is dependent on your audio source – purple = web radio: yellow = spotify cyan = audio player/usb/participate in-to blue = bluetooth inexperienced = auxiliary enter and white = multi-room consumer member. The community light blinks little by little when it is ready to be configured to a wifi community, it blinks quick for community connection mistake and goes off when the network configuration has been efficiently accomplished. At the again of the speaker, there is a lan cable socket a usb port audio-in and headphone jack ports and a change for remaining/suitable/vehicle speakers. The energy relationship socket is on the foundation of the speaker.

  • Good sound and looks
  • Up against tough competition
  • I didn’t find it easy to set up

What’s fantastic:comparatively straightforward to set upsmart stylinggood build qualitycan be extra to for multi-roomwhat’s not so good:sound high-quality lacks any depthlimited array of linked new music servicesbattery module bought separatelyexpensivecheaper and better options availablethis is an attractively styled device with it’s nod to retro attraction in the way of a chunky brown leather-based tackle (without which it would search a relatively non-descript). Pretty compact in dimension it will not take up way too a great deal area. There are a tiny assortment of controls on the prime of the system, as well as some position indicator lights. There is no display although, because this product needs that you make all of your alternatives with a smartphone or tablet. The system can connect either by way of immediate audio jack, bluetooth, or by means of your wireless community. I have made use of the latter two selections and found it straightforward adequate to established up. Of course for the wireless network choice you will be limited by the vary of your wireless network and there is no indication of how great the sign strength is. In my kitchen about 40ft from my router (and a thick stone wall) the online radio stream buffers at times, but that is much more down to my infrastructure than the radio – whilst i won’t be able to communicate for how excellent the wireless antenna might be. At the time paired up and turned on, if you are not just directing your own saved songs at it theb you have a decision of spotify (furnished you have an account) or various internet radio stations working with a somewhat obscurely titled ‘undok’ application. The software is not especially person-helpful and could do with some interface and user-practical experience advancements.

3 stars due to the fact i hadn’t realised optional battery device intended i would have to plug it in separately and i was fooled by the inventory image displaying the set becoming utilized on a standalone kitchen area unit. We you should not have a spare socket in a location exactly where this could be made use of perhaps on the floor somewhere but it does have a great length of cable if you are ready to kind out a socket in the vicinity of a table for example. Wherever i imagined we might use it (on our third ground) it is just not achievable as the wifi does not operate up there so make confident your world-wide-web link is acceptable. I established up a spotify account and i downloaded the applicable app rather conveniently but i had assumed this was additional than essentially just a speaker and in my naivety hadn’t realised almost everything essential to be operated via my mobile cellular phone. It really is a charming on the lookout little bit of package but i am dissatisfied as i would hoped i could also operated it from the system and not al by way of my cellular telephone.

  1. The undok app and sync/connect function with the r100 and rs1 is at best apphazard and unreliable. Continuously had issues connecting from spotify on my iphone, ipad and mac. Simply rubbish for something so expensive. Sounds great – but as reported, sadly not able to do what was intended so will be flogging it and but a sonos.

    1. The sound and looks of this smart radio are very good. I bought this with a compatible roberts speaker and they work well together using the android app. My only difficulty was setting up the system and it took a few attempts to get the radio and speaker to ‘talk’ to one another.

  3. We got this set out of the box and it was just a matter of plugging it in. You download an app and then decide how to connect to the speaker set. On an iphone you select the speaker as your wifi connection. Once you have logged in you are asked which home wifi to connect it to. Spotify can be linked to your app as well as your home network. We assigned the home network area hard drive to the system. This means that whatever music you have can be selected from your phone app. It is truly simple to setup and run.

      1. I mistakenly thought this was simply a radio (twit) but it is a multi-function stereo speaker that can be used with your wireless radio, spotify or bluetooth. The speaker is very good looking retro model with a good quality leather carrying strap. There are five buttons on the top – on/off; volume; reset; fast forward/back and mode/pair. Three led lights for standby; network and mode. The mode light colour depends on your music source – purple = internet radio: yellow = spotify; cyan = music player/usb/play-to; blue = bluetooth; green = auxiliary input and white = multi-room client member. The network light blinks slowly when it is ready to be configured to a wifi network, it blinks fast for network connection error and goes off when the network configuration has been successfully completed. At the back of the speaker, there is a lan cable socket; a usb port; audio-in and headphone jack ports and a switch for left/right/auto speakers. The power connection socket is on the base of the speaker.

    1. 3 stars because i hadn’t realised optional battery unit meant i’d have to plug it in separately and i was fooled by the stock photo showing the set being used on a standalone kitchen unit. We don’t have a spare socket in a place where this could be used; possibly on the floor somewhere but it does have a good length of cable if you are able to sort out a socket near a table for example. Where i thought we’d use it (on our third floor) it isn’t possible as the wifi doesn’t work up there so make sure your internet connection is suitable. I set up a spotify account and i downloaded the relevant app fairly easily but i had assumed this was more than essentially just a speaker and in my naivety hadn’t realised everything needed to be operated via my mobile phone. It’s a lovely looking bit of kit but i am disappointed as i’d hoped i could also operated it from the system and not al via my mobile phone.
